The thing Len Adams wants you to understand is just because they’re volunteers, don’t for a minute think it’s easy.

He’s been firefighting since he was 16-years-old and every day, he says, he continues to learn. 

Adams has also been a teacher, both as a fire safety officer and as an instructor with Homeland Security.

“You have to work at it to be good,” Adams says. “The day you think you know it all, hang your gear up because you’ll probably get someone killed.
