Issac Wertzberger was somewhat of a newcomer to life in Woodbridge when he became friendly with his neighbor, Eric. 

“We were hanging out.Then one day, all of a sudden, he leaves,” Wertzberger says “So I need to find out what this is all about.”  

Eric, turns out, is Eric Akerley, Assistant Chief at the Woodridge Fire Department, who was all too happy to answer Wertzberger’s questions and welcome him into the fire service.

And Wertzberger was fascinated.

“To drop what you are doing and go help out someone in need?,” he says. “That really inspired me.”
